AVS Video Editor 6.2 with full version

AVS Video Editor is a full-featured tool with everything you need to add a little professional polish to your home movies.
The program can import just about any video type, including many HD formats. It's able to grab media directly from your camcorder. And there's even a Capture Screen option that allows you to record what's happening on your desktop.
Once it's imported your movies, you're able to use AVS Video Editor's scene detection to break videos down into their component scenes. The Trim and Multi-Trim options will help you remove unwanted footage, then you can drag and drop the remaining clips onto a timeline and arrange them however you like.
If your footage doesn't always look great, then you can call upon a range of technical tools to try and improve the situation. A stabilisation filter will compensate for shaky camerawork, for instance. Automatic Colour Correction will optimise brightness, contrast and colours (or you can tweak your clip manually, if you prefer), and the Sharpen filter can give movies a crisper look.
You're able to further customise the finished results by adding professional video and transition effects, text captions, a narrated soundtrack and more. There's an option to create a custom DVD or Blu-ray movie for your work. And when you're done, the Produce option can export your finished film as a regular video file, one optimised for a particular device (iPod, PSP, smartphone or more) or the web (including SWF or WebM), or burn it to a video disc: CD, DVD or Blu-ray.
Please note, this trial version of the program will add a watermark to its video output. You can remove this by purchasing a licence for AVS4You ($59), a suite of tools that includes AVS Video Converter 7.1.3 and many other powerful media tools. Find out more at the AVS4You site.
Verdict:
AVS Video Editor has a few limitations when compared to the best of the competition: you don't get as much control, there aren't as many effects, for instance. It delivers far more features and functionality than we'd expect for a tool in this price range, though, so if you're looking for a bargain video editor then there are few better choices around
AVS Video Editor provides video editors with an extensive amount of transitions and effects. You have access to over 600 transitions and 70 special effects, plus the ability to add as many video and audio tracks as you need. You can adjust and fix audio tracks and video stabilization for shaky footage. While AVS's video editing software isn't equipped for professional filmmakers, it makes editing easy. And you have the added benefit of creating HD movies.
Editing Tools
There are almost 700 different transitions and effects built into AVS Video Editor. To apply any effect, all you have to do is drag one and drop it into place. You can adjust the beginning and ending times of each effect. Adjustments can also be made to match your sequence; for example, you can adjust the size of each snowflake in a film with a wintery feel. In addition to size, you can change the opacity, color, density of the snowflake and even the direction it is moving. Some of the other effects and transitions you can choose from include gray out, anaglyph 3D, newsprint, invert, posterize and border.
The stabilization tool can fix shaky footage. This automatically cuts portions off the top and bottom of the film to create a smooth image. You can select how much of the video you want to cut, but be careful not to cut too much as it can completely ruin your segment of video.
The audio effects settings come with tools to amplify, remove noise, equalize, normalize, compress and adjust pitch. Additionally, it's easy to increase or decrease the volume for each track. The audio line has a bar you can move up and down to adjust the sound. If you want to customize the volume control, you can select points on the audio line making it easy to fade the audio in and out of your video.
AVS Video Editor uses a simple interface. When you start the application, you can add an unlimited number of tracks, a flexibility we greatly appreciate. Typically, the overlay track is a picture-in-picture track, which means the second video appears in a box over your main video. You also have the option to add additional audio and video tracks if you have a more intensive video project.
This movie editing software also comes with 46 text options. You can add a banner that appears across the screen, thought bubbles or colorful text. The text editor provides you with additional tools to customize how the words come across the screen, the size of the text and more.
The chroma-key effect allows you to edit out any color, like a green sreen function, so you can edit and replace backgrounds easily.
You can trim and adjust the length of your video clips, and you can also add chapters to your movies. AVS Video Editor allows you to add them manually, or you can set them to be automatic. The automatic setting will assign chapters at the beginning of each clip or set them to occur at a specific time interval, such as every five minutes.
When your movie is complete, you can add a disc menu from which the viewer can select a particular scene or choose to play the whole film. AVS Video Editor comes with 34 disc-menu templates, among which are Wedding Flowers, Sea, Saint Patrick, Old Photo, Christmas, Football, Child and Travel. Only five of these templates are part of the movie editing software. The other 29 come as separate downloads you can find on the manufacturer's website.
Supported Formats
This movie editing software supports HD, MPEG, AVI, WMV, Quick Time, Adobe Flash, mobile video, RealNetworks and WebM files. You can work with video formats such as AVCHD, MPEG2, MP3, MP4, WMV, SVCD, DVD, MOV, M4V and FLV. You can import (but not export) the following file formats: DV, Matroska, Ogg Media, AMV/MTV, TS, Nintendo DS, NullSoftVideo and Google Video.
You can import audio and video files from a camera or camcorder. Additionally, you can capture images from your computer screen with this movie editing software. The screen-capture feature can record video and take still images. You can adjust the file formatting and audio options for these recordings.
When you're ready to share your finished movie, you can save it as a file, burn it to a disc, share it online or put it on your smartphone or other device. A wizard walks you through the process of creating these various output forms of your movie.
Ease of Use
The interface for this movie editing software is well organized. The tools are clearly marked so you can swiftly find the ones you need, which makes editing videos quick. The process is easy enough that you can start working on a simple project right away.

Summary:
With AVS Video Editor, you will be able to create quality movies quickly. It provides you with lines for your main video, effects, video overlay, text, additional audio and voiceover. The support from Online Media Technologies is vast and offers quite a bit of help for its video editing software.
